Over 57 Years of Experience
Minatronics Corporation has been the recognized leader in computer protection since 1986 when it first invented the LightGard Plastic Fiber Optic Security System. LightGard’s pioneering users were Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh, to help protect the college-owned personnel computers and scientific equipment, as well as all kinds of other devices located on campus.
Carnegie Mellon didn’t want steel cables and padlocks, which are unsightly, unmonitored, and easy to compromise. Instead, the university has thousands of pieces of equipment protected by the LightGard Fiber Optic Security System, which secures equipment even while it’s being used. The fiber optic cord acts as an anti-theft device, but unlike other security solutions, our alert system provides an additional failsafe should someone sever the connection. Tampering with our equipment sets off an alarm, so authorities know immediately. The same system also protects televisions in dorm lounge areas.
